Chowking's Nai Cha

Before the rise of Milk Tea house in the Philippines Chowking is already serving Nai Cha on their menu.

During my Zambales visit I tried Chowking’s Nai Cha.

It was not as best as the other Milk Teas that I love but definitely worth my 39 bucks. If you cannot find any Teas house nearby you may opt to try or replace it with this one.

We Didn't Start the Fire - Chocolate Fire Review

Chocolate Fire is no ordinary dessert store. Aside from their chocolates they serve sandwiches, pasta, rice meal, salads and more. I prefer dark chocolate than milk chocolate. I simply love the bitter taste at the end.

When we arrived at Chocolate Fire the waiters courteously asked if we need their assistance for our order. Actually there’s no process on ordering it's just like choosing your order from the display items. What made it difficult for us is to decide on what to choose from tons of their chocolate display. BTW, they don’t allow picture taking of their display items.

Here's our orders. Tadaaaa…..
Fondue for Two with Milk and Dark Chocolate Dip
Fondue for Two – composed of strawberries, almonds, brownies, marshmallow, wafer, dried mango/pineapple and bananas plus milk and dark chocolate for dip. We were four in the group. The order is just enough for us since each one of us ordered either sandwich or sausage meal. Milk chocolate was a blockbuster. I admit that I’m not really interested to try the milk chocolate at first. Surprisingly, it was really good! 780 php

Blueberry Stick
Blueberry Stick – this is the one of my favorite for the night. The fruits were not flat. Blueberry + chocolate for me are very refreshing. The sweetness of the berry mixed well with the chocolate. 35 php/stick

Dipped Raspberry and Truffles
Dipped Raspberry – just like the Blueberry minus the sticks. 35 php

Truffles – with chocolate shavings. I really Love this one! The chocolate was perfect. I even ate it slowly to have time to savor the taste. 60 php

Fire and Ice
Fire & Ice – Dessert over dessert. This is Ice cream topped with whip cream and almond shavings. I didn’t try the ice cream. Instead I just scoop on some whip cream. 290 Php

Their Butterfly Iced Tea aka House Iced Tea is also good. 115 php
My chocolate fire experience was superb. Their chocolates are definitely something that will keep you coming back for more. Though a bit pricey, I really think that it’s really worth the price. I’m looking forward for my next visit.

Just a suggestion. Since Chocolate Fire is Located at Makati’s CBD area its best to visit them late night to avoid traffic and trouble looking for parking.

Overall Rating:
Food (chocolates only): 5/5
Value for Money: 4/5

Location: V.A. Rufino cor L.P. Leviste St. Makati City

Green Tree Apple Chips

There’s a saying that An Apple a Day keeps the doctor away.   This is definitely true. Apples are low in calories, it does not contain saturated fats or cholesterol and very rich in fiber. No wonder this is on top list of people on diet.

Saw this Apple chips from supermarket.
Green Tree Apple Chips
I bought one out of curiosity. At the back label the apple nutrients are presented by Green Tree.

I really don’t know how the apples will look like inside this bag. Does this look like banana chips? Are they crunchy? Does it really taste like fresh apples as claimed by its manufacturer? Let’s see.

It really tastes like apple, the sourness was definitely there. The chips are not crunchy though, they are soft but a bit rubbery for me.

The 43 Pesos worth of chips is equivalent to two small apples. Definitely, I will still go for the fresh one. Still, this is far healthier than those junk foods available in the supermarket.

Other Happy Lemon Drinks

If you are not fan of Happy Lemon’s Green Tea or Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese you might want to try their Lemon Series and Mousse Spins.
Lemon Peppermint with Nata de Coco
Lemon Peppermint with Nata de Coco – I love this drink because it’s so refreshing. The drink comes with slices of lemons that give the kick to the drink. Their nata de coco comes in very tiny cube form they won’t clog on your straw. This is my substitute for milk tea if I already have the ample dosage of tea for the day. Don't worry because this drink does not have any weird taste :)
Lemon Yogurt with Aloe
Lemon Yogurt with Aloe – just like Lemon Peppermint this drink also has slices of lemons. I love the tiny aloe bits! It’s so crunchy that you will definitely chew it first before taking another sip. Lemon Yogurt has thick texture and has a similar taste to Lemon Yakult.
Lemon Yakult
Lemon Yakult –this has a similar taste to Lemon Yogurt (without the aloe bits). The only difference is that Lemon Yakult has thicker texture than that of Lemon Yakult.

Have a great day with Lemon boy!

Terry's Review

Viva España!

Our director wanted our team to have dinner somewhere not within our office vicinity but we had difficulty on choosing setting when. This was the only time that our team was complete, a perfect time for our ‘group date’.

This restaurant is not exposed to shoppers of Podium because it’s found at the basement area. For me this place looks so intimidating. Most of its customers are those over 40’s and most of them are just having some good time (more on amigos and amigas meet up)

Aside from their paella and other gourmet dishes Terry’s also has a wide range of wine selection to choose from.  Some Spanish ingredients are also available.

Marques de Caceres one of Terry's Best Seller
Here's a glimpse of some of our orders:

We started with some greens on our table
Green Garden Treats
Fresh greens, tomatoes, cucumber, chickpeas, corn kernels, hard-boiled egg and nuts tossed with their unique sherry balsamic vinaigrette and sprinkled with Reggiano shavings. Their salad is a good starter. The veggies were fresh. 325 Php for Large serving.

Tha Pumpkin soup was ok for me. Though I find it a bit pricey for its serving size.

Paella is definitely the 1st thing that would pop your mind when talking about Spanish dining. Paella is rice cooked in a paellara which is a round flat pan using different spices and ingredients which gives the rice its distinct taste. It is commonly cooked with seafood particularly shellfish but can also be replaced by chicken.

We ordered large Super-Paella Parellada and Chistorrado for sharing.
Super-Paella Parellada
Super-Paella Parellada - paella topped with Shrimp and Chorizo. 740 Php

Chistorrado
Chistorra (a type of sausage) from Spain and rice are cooked in a luscious sauce of roasted red capsicum (bell pepper), Piquillo peppers and melted cheese. 740 Php

Both paellas were good. This is my first time to dine in an authentic Spanish restaurant but their paella is really remarkable for me. The rice was cooked evenly and the other ingredients didn’t over power the rice.  If I would pick my personal choice it would be the Super Paella. For the only reason that I’m not a big cheese fan.

My personal order is the Sea Bass Medallion - Pan-seared sea bass served with a side of confit potatoes lightly tossed in a warm, fresh herb alioli
I know that we are going to have loads of paella that night so I ordered something without rice. The Sea Bass was lightly flavored and taste good also. 375 Php

Sea Bass Medallion

Apple Juice
I also tried their apple juice for 40 php. This is not recommended for people with hyper acidity because its too sour.

Some of my colleagues order
Chuletillas de Cordero
Chuletillas de Cordero - Baby lamb cutlets accompanied by Piquillo peppers, stuffed with a refined concoction of Asturian smoked black sausage bathed with a distinctive Ribera del Duero red wine reduction. Two thumbs up for the lamb itself. 595 Php

The white wine that we ordered was also good. I forgot the name though.

Overall I will say that my 1st Terry’s experience was good. And definitely will invite my close friends to dine here. Definitely for special occasions only. Their menu may be pricey but the quality of food served speaks for itself.

My Overall Rating:
Food: 4/5
Value for Money: 4/5

Fundae Froyo

Craving for FroYo (Frozen Yogurt)? I just discovered that 7 11 offers Fundae Froyo their own version of Frozen Yogurt. Yes, you can enjoy FroYo from 7 11 branches with the very affordable price of 35 Pesos!
I was looking for something to buy from 711 when this add

Fundae Froyo
Well, its really worth the try. In terms of quality and taste Fundae Froyo is at par from the regular Frozen Yogurt available in Philippine market. With it's budget friendly price and good taste this is definitely a must try! :)
